"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord."

Throughout Jesus' ministry, he would heal those who had asked him. The tradition of praying for the sick and anointing them with holy oil dates back to the time of the apostles. The purpose of this sacrament is to provide reassurance of healing to those who have serious illnesses.

"¿Esta alguien enfermo entre vosotros? Que llame a los ancianos de la Iglesia y oren por él, ungiendolo con aceite en el nombre del Señor".

A lo largo de su ministerio Jesús, curaría a los que se lo habían pedido. La tradición de orar por los enfermos y ungirlos con aceite se remonta a la época de los apóstoles. El propósito de este sacramento es brindar seguridad de curación a quienes padecen enfermedades graves.
